Alltech amplifies agriculture’s voice at COP30 in Brazil

11/11/2025

As world leaders prepare to gather in Belém, Brazil, for the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), Alltech is stepping forward as one of the strongest advocates for agriculture’s role in global climate action. With its deep roots in animal nutrition and crop science, the company aims to reshape the narrative — positioning agriculture not as a climate culprit, but as a vital solution for a sustainable and resilient planet.

Headquartered in Nicholasville, Kentucky, Alltech operates in more than 140 countries. The company’s participation in COP30 will span across multiple key discussions and panels, focusing on sustainable livestock systems, regenerative food production, and the future of carbon markets. Its activities will include the global premiere of its acclaimed documentary World Without Cows and a 20-minute companion film, World Without Cows Brazil: The Battle for Balance, highlighting how Brazil could double its food output without clearing a single tree by restoring degraded pastures and adopting regenerative practices.

“Alltech’s global perspective allows us to see the best of agricultural innovation in action,” said Dr. Mark Lyons, president and CEO of Alltech. “Every day, we witness remarkable solutions that strengthen economies, nourish communities, and restore natural resources. That is the true power of agriculture — its ability to shape the future.”

At COP30, Alltech will engage in a series of high-impact sessions. The company will participate in the COP30 Farmers’ Summit, hosted by the World Farmers’ Organisation, and contribute to several Blue Zone panels including “From pasture to plate: Continuous improvement practices, progress and pathways in animal agriculture,” featuring Dr. Lyons, and “Putting it all on the table: Animal ag and the future of food,” with Martha Baker, Alltech’s global director of carbon markets. Tara McCarthy, Alltech’s global vice president of ESG, will also join a discussion at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) pavilion, focusing on sustainable animal agriculture across the Americas.

These efforts underscore Alltech’s broader commitment to bridging science, innovation, and collaboration to achieve meaningful climate progress. The company’s Planet of Plenty initiative — which promotes partnerships across the agri-food chain to create a world of abundance through sustainability — serves as a unifying platform for many of these global engagements.

Alltech’s presence at COP30 follows a series of influential appearances in other global sustainability arenas. During Climate Week NYC in September, Alltech emphasized the connection between soil health, livestock systems, and carbon efficiency. At the FAO Global Conference on Sustainable Livestock Transformation in Rome, the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization hosted a screening of World Without Cows, followed by a panel featuring Dr. Frank Mitloehner of UC Davis, a leading voice on livestock sustainability.

Through consistent advocacy, strategic storytelling, and strong partnerships, Alltech continues to amplify agriculture’s contribution to global climate goals. The company’s message is clear: agriculture is not a problem to be fixed but a partner to empower — and its voice deserves a central place in the world’s most important climate discussions.
