Alltech and ADM Forge Strategic North American Feed Joint Venture

Alltech and Archer-Daniels-Midland (ADM) have signed a definitive agreement on September 23, 2025 to form a new North American animal feed joint venture, a move that brings together decades of collaboration and shared ambition in animal nutrition.

Under the agreement, Alltech will contribute Hubbard Feeds in the U.S. (17 feed mills) and Masterfeeds in Canada (15 mills), while ADM will add 11 U.S. feed mills. The joint venture will be majority-owned by Alltech and overseen by a board with equal representation from both companies.

The companies highlight that the new structure will unite “passionate teams, proven products and shared values” to deliver enhanced capabilities across livestock, equine, backyard and leisure feeds. By integrating R&D, logistics and innovation platforms from both sides, the venture aims to provide greater efficiencies and stronger customer support throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Not all units will be included: Alltech will retain Ridley Block Operations, Ridley Feed Ingredients, and its specialty ingredients business, while ADM will keep its Canadian feed operations and U.S. premix/additives businesses. Both will remain suppliers and partners to the joint venture.

The transaction is expected to close in Q1 2026, after which the new entity will begin operations. Industry observers see the combination of 43 mills across North America as a significant step toward economies of scale, innovation-driven growth and long-term competitiveness in the feed market.
