Alltech Spain has been awarded a Gold Medal by EcoVadis, achieving an overall score of 85 out of 100 and placing in the 98th percentile among all companies assessed over the previous 12 months, according to Alltech.
The recognition positions Alltech Spain in the top 2% of companies globally across all industries, underlining how sustainability
performance is becoming a more visible competitive factor for agribusinesses and animal nutrition companies alike. For the animal health and nutrition sector, third-party ESG benchmarking is increasingly tied not only to reputation, but also to customer trust, value chain relationships and long-term market positioning.
EcoVadis evaluates companies across 21 sustainability criteria based on international sustainability standards. Its assessments are designed to measure how companies are performing on environmental, social and governance priorities, with medal status determined by percentile ranking.
Tara McCarthy, Alltech’s global vice president of ESG, said the result reflects a multi-year effort to build out the company’s sustainability systems and internal confidence around ESG delivery. She noted that over the past four years, Alltech has expanded policies, introduced new systems, conducted training and worked more closely with its value chain.
This year’s result also came in a more competitive assessment cycle, with higher average scores across participating companies than in previous years. In that context, Alltech said the Gold Medal highlights the strength of its Spain team’s performance over the past year.
Alex Galipienso, general director at Alltech Iberia, credited the achievement to cross-functional teamwork, while specifically recognizing Paula Senz, culture and talent manager for Alltech Iberia, and Rocio Noguera, Alltech Iberia sustainability technician, for leading the project.
From a business perspective, the award adds to Alltech’s broader effort to connect sustainability commitments with operational execution. In animal nutrition and food production, that matters because ESG performance is increasingly scrutinized by customers, partners, industries and public institutions.
Alltech said the recognition aligns with its “Working Together for a Planet of Plenty” purpose and its focus on environmentally and economically sustainable solutions, ethical business conduct and efficient food production. The company also publishes its annual progress through the Alltech Sustainability Report.
