Global food and agriculture leader Cargill has announced key leadership appointments to reinforce its customer-centric growth and innovation strategy in India and across South Asia. Ravinder Balain has been named Country President for Cargill India, while Dheeraj Talreja joins as Vice President and Managing Director for Food South Asia.
Balain, who joined Cargill in 2024, will now oversee all operations and strategic collaboration across the company’s enterprises in India. He will also continue leading Cargill’s Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) business in South Asia, driving innovation through trusted brands such as Purina, Provimi and Vetcare. With more than 33 years of experience at DuPont and Corteva Agrisciences, Balain brings strong expertise in market creation, stakeholder engagement, and business transformation.
“India is a strategic growth market for Cargill,” Balain said. “Our focus will be on deepening partnerships, driving innovation, and delivering sustainable solutions for our customers and communities.”
Talreja, a seasoned leader with over two decades of experience across food ingredients and specialty chemicals, previously led AAK India, South Asia & Sub-Saharan Africa. At Cargill, he will advance Food APAC’s regional priorities, focusing on innovation, operational excellence, and customer engagement.
With 38 years of market presence in India, Cargill’s new leadership marks a renewed phase of growth—anchored in sustainability, partnership, and innovation across the region’s food and agriculture sectors.
