Speaking at the 14th Klivet Spring Congress in Turkiye, Klivet President Cagil Cokcoskun Yilmaz attributed the organization’s growing influence to a simple but disciplined formula: staying true to core values and consistently completing what Klivet starts.
Cokcoskun emphasized that Klivet’s success is built on an institutional structure strengthened by values that guide long-term continuity. “This year, we held the 14th congress, and next year we will hold the 15th,” she said, describing a deliberate commitment to maintain quality while advancing year after year.
She also highlighted Klivet’s role beyond events: professional representation. Domestically, she said Klivet works to represent the veterinary profession not only to colleagues, but also to the wider public, including children, young adults, future animal lovers, and young veterinarians. Internationally, she noted the importance of how the profession is presented abroad, linking visibility to credibility and opportunity.
Behind the scenes, Cokcoskun credited a broad, committed team. She described Klivet as “a big family,” with regional representatives across Turkiye and board members headquartered in Istanbul. That community-building effect is now translating into demand, she added, with increasing interest from professionals asking how to join and become members.
A major part of Klivet’s next phase is its relationship with FECAVA. Cokcoskun said FECAVA membership is strategically important, pointing out that FECAVA invited Klivet to join even though another association from Turkiye was already a member—something she framed as recognition of Klivet’s impact and the trust built through joint congress work and projects. She also said the partnership could unlock training and education opportunities abroad for members, and referenced a new FECAVA education program that matters in Turkiye’s context, where there is currently no formal diplomate training structure.
Finally, reflecting the congress theme “Catching the Future,” Cokcoskun positioned Klivet as an organization focused on the profession’s long-term direction—especially by supporting veterinary students and encouraging the profession to shape the present based on lessons from the past two decades.
