At UBEK 2025, Prof. Massimiliano Petracci of Bologna University spoke with TAE Turkiye General Manager Baris Kolgu about the evolving dynamics of poultry consumption—especially in urban centers and developing countries.
According to Petracci, chicken meat remains one of the healthiest animal protein sources globally. But beyond its nutritional value, changing lifestyles are driving demand for processed poultry products. Why?
1. Time-saving needs: Consumers want quick, easy-to-prepare options due to limited cooking time.
2. Personalized nutrition: People now seek products tailored to their goals—athletes look for high-protein items, while others may want low-fat choices.
3. Why poultry?: It’s low in fat, free from major cultural restrictions, and aligns well with modern health-conscious diets.
As Petracci explained, today’s consumer wants convenience and customization—and processed poultry fits both. This shift is especially visible among urban populations in developing countries.
