Onur Ozbayram takes the pets business lead at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Türkiye

30/10/2026

Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Türkiye has added a new commercial leader to its pet business, with Onur Ozbayram taking up the role of Business Unit Director – Pets. The appointment puts leadership attention on a segment where veterinary practices, distributors and pet owners increasingly meet around prevention, adherence and long-term care rather than one-off treatment decisions.

The appointment was announced publicly as a new chapter at Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Türkiye, with the stated aim of working with the pets team on sustainable growth and meaningful impact in the business.

The scale of formal companion-animal care has risen rapidly with PETVET, Türkiye's pet identification and registration system. Ministry data showed 1,286,694 registered cats, dogs and ferrets at the end of 2022, two years after the national programme began. By July 2024, figures released from the same system had risen to 2,371,788, including 1,421,622 cats and 950,125 dogs. Registration records vaccinations, ownership changes, loss reports and veterinary procedures, making the system a practical link between everyday care, traceability and clinical follow-up.

This registered population is not the whole animal-care picture. Ministry figures reported to parliament in February 2026 showed 386 animal shelters and 102 natural-life areas with capacity for about 413,000 animals; around 244,000 animals were being cared for in those facilities. That public-service infrastructure has different funding and operating conditions from the owned-pet segment, but it adds demand for veterinary capacity, prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and responsible rehoming.

For a dedicated pets business leader, the commercial agenda extends beyond a product portfolio. It includes the availability of veterinary advice, confidence in preventive protocols, the reach of clinics and distributors, and sustained communication with owners over an animal's lifetime. Ozbayram's appointment gives Boehringer Ingelheim Animal Health Türkiye a named business lead as formal registration, veterinary services and public animal-care provision become more closely connected across the companion-animal ecosystem.
