A well-known figure in Turkiye’s animal health sector, Yavuz Uzun stepped into the Zoetis world with years of experience and a deep understanding of the market. In this exclusive interview with The Animal Economics, he shares what stood out most upon joining the company, the new goals for Zoetis Turkiye, and how both companion and livestock animal health will shape future growth.
You are a leader who knows Turkiye’s animal health sector very well. What differences caught your eye after joining the Zoetis world?
“From the very first day I joined Zoetis, one of the things that impressed me the most was the company’s ability to combine its global knowledge with local needs. Having worked in the animal health sector in Turkiye for many years, I know the market dynamics closely. However, Zoetis’ approach to these dynamics represents a vision that truly makes a difference.
The culture of innovation and the scientific approach are the cornerstones of Zoetis’ DNA. It is not only about product development; we are also at an advanced level in field operations, digital solutions, and customer experience. This allows us to build stronger relationships with our veterinarians and producers.

“It is a great honor for me to take over the management of a company that has achieved major successes in the past. The biggest strength behind these achievements is undoubtedly our human capital. Zoetis is a company with very strong human resources. The knowledge and experience our employees have carried from the past to today is our greatest wealth.
To make this success sustainable and take it a step further, I rely most on two elements: our people and Zoetis’ innovative approach. We are continuing to build a data-driven decision-making culture not only within our organization but also together with our veterinarians and producers. We want to create a structure in the field that is supported by digital solutions and can make faster, more accurate, and more effective decisions. In this way, we aim to advance both animal health and production efficiency to higher levels.”
Globally, the companion animal health sector is growing rapidly. On the other hand, producing healthy animal protein remains critical for healthy societies. How do you evaluate and compare the growth between these two species segments for Zoetis Turkiye? In which area do you aim for faster growth?
“As Zoetis Turkiye, we have a strong presence in both companion and livestock animal health. However, the growth dynamics of these two segments are different, and each contains strategic opportunities within itself.
In companion animal health, we are seeing significant momentum—especially with the increase in urbanization, rising pet ownership rates, and higher awareness levels among pet owners. Double-digit growth rates have now become sustainable in this area. Therefore, in the coming period, we will follow a more aggressive growth strategy in the companion segment. Vaccines, parasiticides, and digital health solutions will be the main drivers of this growth.
On the other hand, livestock animal health for us is not just a business line; it is also part of our responsibility to contribute to food safety and public health. Growth continues in this area as well, but it progresses more through efficiency, sustainability, and technology integration. In particular, we aim to create differentiation in the ruminant segment through enhanced field support services and digital applications.”
Zoetis Turkiye is also a company with a strong management and field team. Do you believe this team will make an even greater difference and succeed in reaching new goals?
“I absolutely believe so. The greatest strength of Zoetis Turkiye is its people. From management to the field, every team member is not just an employee performing their duties; they are leaders who carry the company’s vision, create value, and make a difference in the field.
At the point we have reached today, thanks to this strong team, our credibility in the sector, our relationships with business partners, and our customer satisfaction levels are at the highest level. But we are not satisfied with this alone. In the new period, we are equipping this team with development programs, digital competencies, and field support systems that will take their potential even further.
I don’t just trust this team; I truly believe that together we will write success stories that have never been written before. Because I know that when the right vision, a strong team, and a shared purpose come together, success is not just an outcome—it is an inevitable reality.”
