Probiotics-Based Animal Feed Gains Ground: Market to Nearly Double by 2034

05/12/2025

The global trend away from antibiotics in animal agriculture continues to drive demand for probiotic-based nutrition. According to a new industry forecast, the global probiotics-animal-feed market is expected to grow from roughly USD 5.44 billion in 2025 to nearly USD 11.72 billion by 2034 — an impressive CAGR of ~8.9%.

This shift is fueled by rising concerns over antimicrobial resistance, stricter regulation of antibiotic use in livestock, and growing consumer demand for meat and dairy products from animals raised under more sustainable, welfare-conscious conditions.

Poultry remains the largest user segment for probiotics in feed — due to its volume, sensitivity to gut-health parameters, and intensive production systems — though swine and aquaculture are also seeing rising adoption.

On the supply side, key global players such as Evonik Industries, Chr. Hansen, DSM‑Firmenich, BASF SE and Cargill Incorporated are actively expanding their portfolios and capacities to meet this growing demand.

For investors, feed-additive manufacturers, and integrators around the world, the burgeoning probiotics segment represents a high-growth area — especially as regulatory and consumer pressure continues to push for antibiotic-free, sustainable animal production.
