Purina PRO PLAN will hold its 2026 Calming Care Symposium under the theme “The Gut-Brain Axis in Practice”, with the goal of translating the science behind canine stress into practical learning for veterinary teams. The free event will take place on 13 March 2026 in Girona, Spain, with an online attendance option available from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm CET / 8:00 am to 3:00 pm GMT.
The program is designed for a wide professional audience, including veterinary surgeons, vet techs, RVNs, behaviourists, and nutritionists. According to the press release, the symposium will explore stress-related behaviours in dogs through case studies, expert talks, and discussions, aiming to help attendees better recognize and manage stress as a welfare priority.
Key agenda areas will include the science of the gut-brain axis, the pet-human relationship, and how probiotics can influence canine behaviour. The symposium will also include a round-table discussion encouraging audience participation, a session featuring evidence-based insights and real-life case reports, and networking opportunities with peers.
Purina PRO PLAN’s speaker lineup includes ten experts from around the world, with highlighted speakers such as Dr. Clara Palestrini (University of Milan, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science), Dr. Sarah Heath (European Veterinary Specialist in Behavioural Medicine), and Dr Marta Amat Grau and Dr Xavier Manteca Vilanova (University of Barcelona), both diplomates of the European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine.
Registration is free via Purina’s event page, and simultaneous translations will be available in French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Portuguese, alongside English.
