Trouw Nutrition has officially broken ground on its new manufacturing facility in the Polatli Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), marking one of the company’s most significant investments in Turkiye to date. According to the announcement shared via Inomist Iletisim Danismanligi, the project is set to double Trouw Nutrition Turkiye’s current production capacity and position the country as a regional hub for high-tech, sustainable feed additives.
Scheduled to become operational in the first half of 2027, the plant is designed around a zero-emission and zero-waste model. Gonca Altintas, Country Manager of Trouw Nutrition Turkiye, underlined that the new facility will eliminate fossil energy use entirely and operate through a fully automated production system.
A Strategic Export Bridge for the Region
Altintas emphasised the strategic value of Polatli OIZ in enabling efficient logistics across Turkiye as well as neighbouring markets in Central Asia and the Caucasus. She noted that the investment reflects Nutreco’s confidence in Turkiye’s young population, geographic positioning, and strong livestock potential.
The plant will be equipped with end-to-end automation, enhancing product homogeneity and strengthening Trouw Nutrition’s innovation capabilities in the market. “This investment clearly demonstrates the trust placed in Turkiye,” Altintas said.
Zero Fossil Fuels, On-Site Energy Generation
The facility is being built to run without natural gas or diesel consumption. Its energy infrastructure will include a 400 kWp solar power system, heat-recovery technologies and high-efficiency HVAC architecture. These systems will allow the plant to generate its own energy while supporting Trouw Nutrition’s zero-dust and zero-carbon goals.
Altintas added that advanced digital tools, AI-supported systems and next-generation automation will significantly strengthen R&D capacity and sustainability performance.
Industry 4.0 Manufacturing Backbone
The factory will feature fully automated production lines designed at Industry 4.0 standards. A cloud-based MES (Manufacturing Execution System) will manage real-time optimisation from raw-material intake to packaging. Formulation, stock management, quality control and efficiency analytics will operate within a single integrated platform—ensuring complete traceability and measurable performance.
“Trouw Nutrition’s new facility will redefine quality and sustainability standards while positioning Turkiye as a strategic bridge to new export markets,” Altintas stated.
Nutreco’s Global Commitment
Nutreco CEO Eduardo Alberto highlighted that the investment is a long-term commitment to sustainable growth: “This is not only about increasing capacity. It reflects our belief in Turkiye’s role as a continental bridge and a potential innovation centre for sustainable animal nutrition.”
Nutreco currently operates over 100 production sites in more than 30 countries, supported by eight R&D centres and 10,000 employees.
