“With nearly 50 years of knowledge, we continue adding value to intestinal integrity”

09/06/2026

Elanco’s intestinal integrity focus is built on nearly 50 years of experience, according to Arman Akin, Elanco TMEA Ruminant and Poultry Marketing Manager. Speaking after the company’s 20-year intestinal integrity event in Istanbul, Akin said Elanco’s expertise in this field is not limited to products, but includes technical service, field experience, data management and sustainable production support.

Akin said Elanco’s journey in intestinal integrity began in 1970 with the launch of one of its early products, Elancoban. Since then, the company has developed not only solutions, but also a significant base of field knowledge, technical expertise and data infrastructure.

Today, he said, Elanco has one of the important data pools in intestinal integrity. This knowledge is integrated into customer production systems through technical services, field teams and scientific support mechanisms.

For Akin, intestinal integrity is no longer only a technical health topic. It is directly connected to efficiency, profitability and sustainability. Producers are looking for solutions that can improve feed conversion, protect flock health, support performance and contribute to sustainable production.

This is why Elanco’s approach is broader than product supply. Akin described it as a holistic model designed to help producers improve performance and build more efficient production systems.

He also underlined the strength of Elanco’s organization in Turkiye and the Middle East. The company works through technical teams, sales teams and support functions that remain close to customers, listen to field needs, generate data and develop solutions.

The Istanbul meeting also carried a strong regional dimension. Akin said participants came from around 25 countries in the IMEA region, including Turkiye, the Middle East and European poultry markets such as Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine. According to him, the group represented a significant part of global poultry production.

His message was straightforward: Elanco was with customers in the past, is with them today and will continue to stand with them in the future.

For The Animal Economics, Akin’s comments show why intestinal integrity has become a strategic business field. In modern poultry production, gut health is closely tied to cost control, feed efficiency, disease prevention and sustainability. As production systems become more demanding, companies that combine data, field experience and technical service will likely shape the next phase of poultry performance management.
